When you are concerned about your child's development it can be difficult to know where to look for help. Especially as parents often approach me when they are not sure whether their child has a need or not.
Some of the things I can offer include:
Literacy assessments looking at finding the root causes of challenges in reading, handwriting and spelling that your child may be experiencing, and giving you practical activities and ways forward that you can use to help. This usually includes a report and practical interventions you can share with your child's school, and I am always very happy to liaise with your child's teacher or SENDCo if you and they would like this support.
A visit to observe a young child at preschool or an older child at school, and support with ideas and strategies to help their development: preschool and school staff are often keen to work in partnership.
For you and your child to visit me for a developmental play assessment that looks in an age appropriate way at all their developmental skills and gives you information on their strengths and any areas where they would benefit from support. You may like this to include a report you can share with others such as your Health Visitor or Paediatrician or school staff, and ideas and resources for play to support your child's development in moving forward.
You may be interested in a specific Rhythmic Movement approach for your child
Any of the approaches and activities mentioned throughout the site can be tailored for an individual child. You may want me to support or provide additional activities and strategies for another professional who is already working with your child and feels this would help- I have provided SEND and Educational Therapy programmes to several tutors to support their ongoing work with a child, and am always glad to work with other professionals on your child's team. Or you may simply want to meet and talk about your concerns and your possible ways forward with them.
I am always happy to talk by email or on the phone about what you may find useful, and whether I can help or signpost you towards an agency or service that may suit you better.
